about the club:

Connect and Commit is a service-learning organization at Winchester High School that is dedicated to meaningful service and education on community issues. We have meetings every other Thursday from 6:30-7:30, and our meetings always have snacks as well as fun and learning!

what is service learning?

"An educational approach that combines learning objectives with community service in order to provide a pragmatic, progressive learning experience while meeting societal needs." -Wikipedia

To us, service learning combines volunteering time and services with learning about why we do so. Connect & Commit has worked on many different problems - we change global issues on a local level. Such topics include homelessness, disaster relief, environmental responsibility, and more.

what we're planning now:

It costs $5 in order to get a paddle and taste desserts. There will be dogs!

Escape the School

Connect and Commit is running Escape the School! Use your wits in a group of up to 10 people to escape one of two different games before time runs out! Foster Care Meeting

When children cannot live with their family for some reason including neglect and substance abuse, they are transitioned into the foster care system. According to the U.S. Children's Bureau FY2016 foster care statistics, the number of children in foster care reached 437,465, a figure that has increased annually since 2012. Due to limited resources, foster children often pack their belongings in trash bags when they must leave their homes. Connect and Commit plans to work with the current WHS Duffel Bag Drive to spread awareness and collections!
